Privacy policy
Talpatra Scan does not have the Android INTERNET permission. This isn't a policy we promise to follow — it's enforced at build time. A Gradle task in the app's build fails the build outright if that permission reappears in the merged manifest. An app that cannot open a network connection cannot send your data anywhere, full stop. Everything below follows from that.
What we collect
Nothing. Specifically:
- No analytics SDK is included in the app. There is no third-party tracking, no telemetry, no advertising SDK.
- There is no account and no sign-in. Talpatra Scan doesn't know who you are.
- There is no cloud sync. Your scans, crops, filters, and exports live only on your device's storage.
Where your scans live
Every page you scan is stored locally: the original capture, the crop boundary, and the processed/filtered version. Editing is non-destructive — the original is always kept alongside whatever you produce from it. None of this is uploaded anywhere, because the app has no way to upload it.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, a plain-text crash report is written to your device — locally, and only locally. Nothing is sent automatically. The next time you open the app, you're offered the option to send that report; if you tap send, it opens your own email app with the report pre-filled as a draft addressed to us. You see the full contents before anything goes anywhere, and you can edit or discard it instead of sending. If you never tap send, the report never leaves your device.
Diagnostics (opt-in)
Talpatra Scan keeps a few local usage counters on-device (things like how many pages you've scanned) purely to help us debug and improve the app. These counters never leave your device on their own. In Settings, there's an opt-in "share diagnostics" action — if you tap it, the app opens your own email app with those counters pre-filled as a draft. Same as crash reports: you see exactly what's in it before you decide to send it, and nothing is sent unless you do.
What actually leaves your device
Only what you explicitly export or share, and never automatically:
- PDF or image exports you send through Android's share sheet, to whatever app or destination you pick.
- A crash report, if you explicitly tap Send in the email draft described above.
- A diagnostics report, if you explicitly tap Send in that email draft.
That's the complete list. There is no background upload, no silent sync, no first-run "phone home."
Permissions the app requests
Talpatra Scan requests camera access (to scan documents) and storage access (to save and read your scans and exports). It does not request and cannot be granted internet access.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the effective date above will change too. Given the app has no network access, any future change would describe the same on-device, user-initiated model described here — not a shift toward data collection.
